Start Your Year with Fasting
January 5 - 25th
This isn’t about willpower or religious routine. It’s about slowing down, stripping distractions, and positioning your heart for God to move. For the next 21 days, we’ll fast, pray, and seek a fresh work of the Holy Spirit, together.
Resources
Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire
This 21-day journey is inspired by Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire by Jim Cymbala, a raw, honest story of what God does when prayer becomes the priority. If you want to go deeper, this book will anchor and expand what we’re practicing together.
Daily Guide
Day 1 — Acknowledging Our Need
Focus:
Begin by honestly recognizing where self-reliance, busyness, or routine have quietly replaced dependence on God in your daily life and spiritual practices.
Prayer:
Lord, I confess that I often rely on my own strength, insight, and effort. Teach me again what it means to depend fully on You.
Day 2 — Stirring Holy Hunger
Focus:
Ask God to awaken a deeper desire for His presence, beyond comfort, familiarity, or simply maintaining a functional spiritual life.
Prayer:
God, stir my heart where it has grown comfortable or dull. Replace satisfaction with routine with a longing for You alone.
Day 3 — Repentance and Realignment
Focus:
Invite the Holy Spirit to reveal attitudes, habits, or priorities that distract from prayer, humility, and obedience to God’s leading.
Prayer:
Search my heart, Lord. Reveal what does not honor You, and gently realign my life with what truly matters to You.
Day 4 — Depending on the Spirit
Focus:
Reflect on areas where you operate out of ability, planning, or experience rather than daily reliance on the Holy Spirit.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, I welcome Your leadership today. Teach me to follow Your voice rather than trusting only what feels familiar or safe.
Day 5 — Faith Beyond Words
Focus:
Consider how faith is meant to be lived with expectation of God’s presence and power, not merely spoken or intellectually affirmed.
Prayer:
Lord, move my faith from words to trust. Help me expect You to work, speak, and move in ways only You can.
Day 6 — Embracing Weakness
Focus:
Recognize that God often works most powerfully through surrendered weakness rather than polished strength or spiritual performance.
Prayer:
God, I bring You my limitations, fears, and inadequacies. Use them to reveal Your strength and grace at work in me.
Day 7 — Building a Rhythm of Prayer
Focus:
Prayer is not a one-time effort but a steady rhythm that shapes how we live, respond, and hear from God.
Prayer:
Lord, help me cultivate consistency in prayer. Teach me to return to You daily, not only when I feel desperate.
Day 8 — Allowing God to Refine
Focus:
God often allows discomfort or disruption to refine our hearts and deepen our trust in Him.
Prayer:
Father, even when You unsettle what feels stable, help me trust that You are refining me for something greater.
Day 9 — Choosing Faithfulness Over Novelty
Focus:
Reflect on how easily new ideas or trends can replace steady obedience and faithfulness in prayer.
Prayer:
God, keep me anchored in truth and obedience. Help me value faithfulness over excitement or spiritual shortcuts.
Day 10 — Trusting God, Not Appearances
Focus:
Release the pressure to impress others spiritually and focus instead on a sincere relationship with God.
Prayer:
Lord, free me from striving to appear strong. Teach me to live honestly before You, trusting Your approval alone.
Day 11 — Power Through Presence
Focus:
Spiritual life flourishes not through information alone, but through God’s living presence shaping our hearts.
Prayer:
God, I don’t just want to know about You—I want to encounter You. Draw me deeper into Your presence today.
Day 12 — Letting Go of Control
Focus:
Consider how control, planning, or overthinking can limit trust in God’s guidance and timing.
Prayer:
Lord, I surrender my need to control outcomes. Teach me to trust You fully, even when the path feels unclear.
Day 13 — God Uses Ordinary People
Focus:
God delights in working through ordinary, available people who are willing to obey and pray.
Prayer:
Father, I offer You my availability. Use my ordinary life for Your purposes and glory.
Day 14 — Prayer as a Shared Life
Focus:
Prayer strengthens community, unity, and love when it becomes a shared pursuit rather than a private obligation.
Prayer:
Lord, help us grow together through prayer. Unite our hearts as we seek You with humility and trust.
Day 15 — Calling on the Lord
Focus:
Scripture reminds us that God responds when His people sincerely call upon Him in faith.
Prayer:
God, I call on You today with confidence in Your promises. Hear my prayer and guide me according to Your will.
Day 16 — Interceding for Others
Focus:
Prayer invites us to carry the burdens of others—family, friends, communities, and those far from God.
Prayer:
Lord, place people on my heart today. Teach me to intercede faithfully and trust You with their lives.
Day 17 — A Place of Healing
Focus:
God’s presence brings restoration, healing, and hope to broken lives and weary hearts.
Prayer:
Father, bring healing where there is pain, restoration where there is loss, and hope where discouragement has settled.
Day 18 — Fresh Filling
Focus:
God invites us to continually receive renewal through His Spirit, not relying on past experiences alone.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, renew me today. Fill my heart with fresh faith, joy, and sensitivity to Your leading.
Day 19 — Guarding Unity
Focus:
Unity grows when prayer replaces criticism, resentment, and division.
Prayer:
Lord, help me be a peacemaker. Teach me to pray for others rather than judge, and to pursue unity with love.
Day 20 — Sustaining the Work
Focus:
Spiritual growth is sustained through daily attention, prayer, and openness to God’s presence.
Prayer:
God, help me remain faithful beyond this season. Teach me to tend what You are growing in my life.
Day 21 — Commitment and Commission
Focus:
God calls those who seek Him to live sent—carrying His love, truth, and presence into everyday life.
Prayer:
Lord, I offer myself to You again. Lead me forward with courage, humility, and trust as I follow You.
