What is forgiveness and why is it important?

Forgiveness is the act of letting go of resentment and choosing to release hurtful feelings toward others or oneself. It is vital because it frees us from the burden of bitterness, allowing healing and reconciliation to take place. Forgiveness does not mean forgetting or condoning harmful actions, but rather choosing peace over anger. It restores relationships and helps us move forward with a lighter heart. Ephesians 4:32 encourages us to be kind and compassionate, forgiving each other just as in Christ, God forgave us.
