Who is Jesus, and why does it matter what I believe about Him?

Understanding who Jesus is has profound implications for your life and eternity. According to scripture, Jesus explicitly declared, ‘Before Abraham was, I am’ (John 8:58), claiming divine eternal existence. He is not just a moral teacher or prophet but is identified as God in flesh— the very embodiment of God’s love and power. Recognizing Jesus as the great ‘I am’ reveals His divine authority, His role as the Savior, and His ability to provide spiritual nourishment, guidance, and salvation. Accepting or rejecting this truth shapes your worldview, your purpose, and your relationship with God. Many religions acknowledge Jesus in some form—been viewed as a prophet in Islam, a teacher in Buddhism, or an enlightened guide in New Age spirituality. However, only biblical Christianity elevates Jesus to the status of divine Son of God, co-equal and worshiped as Lord (Nicene Creed). Therefore, understanding and responding to who Jesus truly is is the most vital decision you can make, because it determines your eternal destiny and your daily walk with God.
